Cabbage root fly is a serious pest for cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli,and other Brassica plants. The adult root fly lays eggs at the base of the plant. Larvae hatch from the eggs and eat the stems and roots of the plants. Cabbage collars prevent the flies from laying eggs at the base of the plants, thus removing the threat.

Cabbage collars are very easy to use. When planting slide the collar around the base of the stem. As the stem thickens the collar will open  and doesn't restrict growth.
