Apple 'James Grieve' is a dual purpose apple. It was bred in Scotland towards the end of the 19th century. It is very hardy and a great choice for cooler climates. The fruit is yellow/green flushed with red. The flesh is very juicy and sweetens as the fruit ripens. The flowers are frost resistant making it an excellent pollinator. Excellent cooking apple when picked a few weeks before fully ripe. James Grieve is partially self-fertile and belongs to pollination group 3.
